Integration Overview

How TackQuote connects with PayTrace

Eliminate manual data entry, prevent shipping or pricing errors, and streamline B2B order execution.

TackQuote's PayTrace integration suits US B2B sellers already using PayTrace for Level-3 card processing, where interchange rates on commercial cards matter. Buyers are redirected to PayTrace's hosted checkout page, so card data never reaches TackQuote. PayTrace's notification mechanism is weaker than other gateways here — it is unsigned and carries neither an amount nor a currency — so TackQuote treats it strictly as a prompt to re-read the transaction over an authenticated connection, and the quote is only marked paid on the strength of that read. Because PayTrace reports no currency at all, you declare your account's settlement currency when connecting, and quotes in any other currency are not routed to PayTrace.

Bi-Directional Sync

Data objects synchronized between systems

Here is exactly how data flows between TackQuote and PayTrace to maintain complete system alignment.

Jurisdictional Tax Calculation

Query PayTrace for exact state, county, municipal, and VAT tax rates based on delivery address.

Exemption Certificate Management

Verify buyer resale tax-exempt certificates and apply zero-tax status automatically on qualified quotes.

Product Taxability Codes

Map TackQuote product category SKUs to PayTrace taxability codes for compliance across state lines.

Audit Trail & Reporting Sync

Record taxable transaction details in PayTrace for automated monthly filing and remittance.

Capabilities

What's included in the PayTrace connector

Built out-of-the-box for enterprise sales teams, distributors, and manufacturers.

Hosted Checkout

Buyers are redirected to PayTrace’s hosted payment page at the top level, so card data never touches TackQuote.

Level-3 B2B Processing

Payments run through your existing PayTrace account, keeping the commercial-card processing setup you already have.

Untrusted Notification Handling

PayTrace’s Silent Post is unsigned and carries no amount, so it is used only to trigger an authenticated read and can never mark a quote paid on its own.

Declared Settlement Currency

Because PayTrace reports no currency, you declare your account’s currency and quotes in any other currency are refused rather than settled against the wrong one.

Setup Guide

4 steps to connect PayTrace

TackQuote connects to PayTrace with your account username and password, your settlement currency, and a verification token you generate.

1

Prepare a PayTrace user

PayTrace’s hosted checkout requires the account username and password on each checkout creation, so use a dedicated user with the narrowest permissions your account allows.

2

Declare your settlement currency

PayTrace has no currency field anywhere, so TackQuote compares against the currency you declare. Quotes in other currencies are not routed to PayTrace.

3

Connect in TackQuote

Enter the credentials, currency and a long random verification token in Settings → Payments → PayTrace.

4

Go live

The buyer starting checkout is what routes a quote to PayTrace, and PayTrace is tried last of all connected gateways, so a quote reaches it only when no other is connected. Paid quotes convert once the transaction is confirmed by an authenticated read.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about PayTrace

Why does PayTrace need my account password rather than an API token?

PayTrace’s hosted checkout is only available on its legacy API, which authenticates with the account username and password on each checkout creation — there is no scoped, revocable token equivalent to the other gateways here. We recommend a dedicated PayTrace user with the narrowest permissions your account allows, and rotating the credentials if you disconnect.

PayTrace notifications are unsigned. How is settlement safe?

The notification is never trusted. It carries no amount and no currency, so TackQuote uses it only as a prompt to read the transaction back from PayTrace over an authenticated connection, and that read is the sole basis for marking a quote paid. A forged notification can at most cause a redundant lookup.

Can I use PayTrace for multi-currency quotes?

No. PayTrace accounts settle in a single currency and the API reports no currency at all, so TackQuote only routes quotes matching the currency you declare. Use another connected gateway for other currencies.
