Overview

Mailchimp + TackQuote

TackQuote writes buyers and quote activity into your own Mailchimp audience so the automations you already run can react to quoting. Contact sync is OFF by default and that default is deliberate: adding someone to a marketing audience because they were sent a quote has GDPR and CAN-SPAM consequences, and it is your decision to make explicitly rather than a side effect of switching on a connector. When sync is enabled, contacts are created with Mailchimp's transactional status where possible, so a buyer is recorded without being granted marketing consent they never gave. A Mailchimp connection also needs an audience selected before it can do anything — until then TackQuote reports it as connected but not ready, rather than showing a green badge over an inert integration.

Add your API key, pick an audience, then decide explicitly whether buyers should be synced as contacts.

Where to connect. Setup happens in the seller portal — most connectors under Integrations, the rest on the Settings page named in the setup steps below.

Before you start

What you'll need

  • Active Mailchimp account with an API key
  • A Mailchimp audience to sync into

Setup

How to connect Mailchimp

  1. Connect Mailchimp

Add your Mailchimp API key to TackQuote as an email-marketing credential. The datacentre is derived from the key itself.
  2. Choose an audience

Select the audience contacts and activity belong to. Mailchimp scopes both under an audience, so this is required before anything is sent.
  3. Opt in to contact sync

Contact sync is off until you turn it on, because adding buyers to a marketing audience is a consent decision.

Capabilities

What you get

Consent-First Contact Sync

Contact sync defaults to off, and when enabled stores buyers with transactional status where Mailchimp supports it — recorded, but not signed up to marketing.

Quote Activity

Quote lifecycle activity is recorded against the contact so segments and journeys can react to quoting behaviour.

Audience-Scoped

You choose which audience receives contacts. A connection without an audience is reported as not ready rather than appearing to work.

Non-Blocking

A revoked key or a Mailchimp outage is logged and ignored. Marketing sync never blocks a quote from being sent.

FAQ

Mailchimp questions

Will connecting Mailchimp add my buyers to marketing email?

Not unless you switch contact sync on. It defaults to off, and even when enabled contacts are stored with transactional status where Mailchimp supports it, so they are not granted marketing consent.

Why does my connection say "not ready"?

A Mailchimp connection with no audience selected cannot write anything — its member and activity endpoints are both nested under an audience. TackQuote reports that honestly instead of showing a green badge.

Can I run Mailchimp alongside Klaviyo or Brevo?

Yes. Connections are per provider, so sellers migrating between platforms can run both during the transition.
