Connect Squarespace
The B2B quoting layer for your Squarespace Commerce store.
Overview
Squarespace + TackQuote
TackQuote integrates with Squarespace Commerce through its Products, Orders and Inventory APIs so you can quote from your live product catalog and record Squarespace orders when buyers accept. Squarespace webhook subscriptions are OAuth-only, so TackQuote keeps everything current with a two-hour scheduled pull plus an on-demand refresh — a straightforward setup for design-led brands running B2B alongside their Squarespace storefront. Connect with a per-site Developer API key; a Squarespace OAuth app’s client id and secret are not accepted by the Commerce APIs. Note that the catalog sync covers physical products only; digital downloads, services, and gift cards are not imported.
TackQuote connects to Squarespace Commerce with a per-site Developer API key (not an OAuth app). Catalog and inventory refresh every two hours with an on-demand pull available at any time.
Before you start
What you'll need
- Squarespace Core, Plus, Advanced, or legacy Commerce Advanced plan (Commerce Basic cannot generate Orders/Inventory API keys)
- A per-site Squarespace Developer API key with Products, Orders and Inventory permissions
- TackQuote Starter plan or above
Setup
How to connect Squarespace
Create a Squarespace Developer API key
In Squarespace Settings → Advanced → Developer API Keys, click Generate Key and check the Products, Orders and Inventory permissions. The key is shown once and cannot be retrieved afterwards. This is a per-site key — it is NOT the client id / client secret of a Squarespace OAuth app, which the Commerce APIs never accept.Connect in TackQuote
Paste the API key in TackQuote Integrations → Squarespace. TackQuote calls the Squarespace Commerce API to verify access, names the store it reached, and imports your catalog.Configure order handling
Set the order status for accepted quotes and confirm currency and tax mapping.Go live
Build quotes from your Squarespace catalog. Accepted quotes create Squarespace orders once an active Order Sync Rule targets this connection.
Capabilities
What you get
Product & Inventory Sync
TackQuote pulls your Squarespace physical products, their variants, pricing, and stock on a scheduled cadence so quotes reflect current availability. Digital download, service, and gift-card products are not included — Squarespace serves those from a newer version of its Products API than this sync uses.
Order Creation on Acceptance
Accepted quotes create Squarespace orders with line items and customer details carried across. Order creation is not automatic on acceptance: it runs when an active Order Sync Rule targets this connection, or when the buyer checks out against it after you switch on Integrations → Use for checkout.
Variant & SKU Mapping
Squarespace variants and SKUs map cleanly to TackQuote quote line items for accurate pricing and fulfillment.
Buyers Pay in the TackQuote Portal
Squarespace has no hosted-checkout handoff for third parties: its Create Order endpoint records an order that came from another sales channel and returns no payment page. Accepted quotes are therefore paid through TackQuote's own checkout and land in Squarespace as a recorded order.
FAQ
Squarespace questions
Why is the sync scheduled rather than instant?
Squarespace webhook subscriptions are OAuth-only — its Webhook Subscriptions API cannot be used with an API key at all. TackQuote uses a two-hour scheduled pull plus an on-demand refresh instead, which keeps setup to a single API key. Order creation on acceptance is immediate.
What do I need to connect TackQuote to Squarespace?
A Squarespace plan that can generate Commerce API keys (Core, Plus, Advanced, or legacy Commerce Advanced) and a Developer API key with Products, Orders and Inventory permissions. Paste that key into TackQuote Integrations → Squarespace.
Can I connect with a Squarespace OAuth app instead of an API key?
Not today. A Squarespace OAuth app gives you a client id and client secret, and neither is a bearer credential — the Commerce APIs reject them with a 401 that looks identical to a mistyped API key. An OAuth access token is only issued through the authorization-code flow, which requires the app to be published as a Squarespace Extension and which TackQuote has not built for Squarespace. Use a per-site Developer API key.
Can Squarespace B2B buyers see negotiated pricing before checkout?
Yes. Buyers negotiate and accept pricing inside the TackQuote buyer portal, and only the final accepted quote is pushed to Squarespace as an order — your public storefront pricing is untouched.
