Overview

Xero + TackQuote

TackQuote's Xero integration posts the whole accounting leg of quote-to-cash. A TackQuote quote can be created in Xero as a QUOTE — Xero's own Quotes resource, not an invoice — and an accepted quote can create a draft invoice, both with line items and contact details. Xero-side quote outcomes (sent, accepted, declined, invoiced) are read back onto the TackQuote quote that produced them. Payment status is reconciled from Xero into TackQuote's payment ledger. All of it only after you set the sales account code and tax types from your own organisation: TackQuote will not guess AccountCode 200 or TaxType OUTPUT. One limitation worth knowing: Xero's Quotes API takes no currency code, so a quote posts in your organisation's base currency — TackQuote warns when a quote is priced in anything else rather than posting a number that means something different.

TackQuote connects to Xero via OAuth 2.0. Invoice create requires your organisation’s account and tax codes first.

Where to connect. Setup happens in the seller portal — most connectors under Integrations, the rest on the Settings page named in the setup steps below.

Before you start

What you'll need

  • Xero Starter, Standard, or Premium plan
  • Xero account admin access for OAuth
  • TackQuote Starter plan or above

Setup

How to connect Xero

  1. Connect via Xero OAuth

Click "Connect Xero" in TackQuote Integrations. Authorize access to your Xero organisation and select the entity you want invoices created in.
  2. Enter account and tax codes

Copy the sales AccountCode and TaxType values from your Xero chart of accounts and tax rates. There are no sensible defaults — posting fails until these are set.
  3. Create invoices from accepted quotes

Accepted quotes generate draft Xero invoices using those codes. The same TackQuote quote will not create a second Xero invoice once the Xero id is stored.
  4. Reconcile in Xero

Payment and credit-note workflows stay in Xero. TackQuote does not import payment status.

Capabilities

What you get

Invoice Auto-Creation

Accepted quotes can create draft invoices in Xero. Line items, quantities, and unit prices transfer — using the account and tax codes you configured, not TackQuote defaults.

Contact Sync

TackQuote buyers are pushed to Xero as contacts, matched by email so an existing contact is reused rather than duplicated. This is one-way — TackQuote does not read contacts back from Xero.

Configured Account and Tax

Every invoice line uses the sales AccountCode and TaxType you enter from your Xero organisation. Missing codes fail closed — TackQuote will not post to a guessed revenue account.

Payment and Quote Status Read-Back

Payments recorded in Xero are pulled into the TackQuote payment ledger and mark the invoice paid. Xero quote outcomes — sent, accepted, declined, invoiced — update the TackQuote quote that raised them. Both are opt-in per connection.

FAQ

Xero questions

Can I create Xero quotes (estimates) instead of invoices?

No. TackQuote creates Xero invoices in draft status. Xero quote/estimate creation is not implemented.

Does TackQuote support multi-currency Xero invoices?

The invoice is posted in the quote currency. Your Xero organisation must already have that currency enabled — TackQuote does not enable currencies for you.

What if I have not set an account or tax code?

Invoice create fails closed and tells you to set salesAccountCode, salesTaxType, and (for exempt lines) exemptTaxType at Connections → Xero. TackQuote will not post to a hardcoded account.

Does payment status in Xero update TackQuote?

No. The connector creates invoices and contacts. It does not read payments or credit notes back.
