Integration Overview

How TackQuote connects with Cin7

Eliminate manual data entry, prevent shipping or pricing errors, and streamline B2B order execution.

TackQuote connects to Cin7 Core inventory management through its External API v2 so quotes are built from your live product catalogue and price tiers, and accepted quotes are written back as Cin7 Core sales orders. Product and price data refresh on a two-hour scheduled pull plus an on-demand refresh, and sales orders are created when an accepted quote matches an active Order Sync Rule. The same scheduled run also brings across your Cin7 Core back office — suppliers, purchase orders, production orders, chart of accounts, tax rules and stock locations — a few collections per run so a large account never overruns its sync window. On-hand stock levels are NOT synced — see the FAQ.

Bi-Directional Sync

Data objects synchronized between systems

Here is exactly how data flows between TackQuote and Cin7 to maintain complete system alignment.

Master Price Book Sync

Sync contract pricing matrices, volume discount tiers, and customer-specific price books from Cin7.

Sales Order & Invoice Post

Post accepted quotes directly as sales orders or accounts receivable invoices into Cin7 GL accounts.

Net Terms & Credit Limit Check

Validate buyer credit balances and payment terms in Cin7 before enabling Net-30 quote checkout.

Tax Code & AR Ledger Mapping

Align tax jurisdiction codes and line-item revenue accounts across Cin7 and TackQuote.

Capabilities

What's included in the Cin7 connector

Built out-of-the-box for enterprise sales teams, distributors, and manufacturers.

Product & Price Sync

TackQuote pulls Cin7 Core products, price tiers, units, categories and barcodes into the quote builder on a scheduled cadence.

Sales Order Creation

Accepted quotes create Cin7 sales orders with products, quantities, customer, and branch mapped across. Order creation is not automatic on acceptance: it runs when an active Order Sync Rule targets this connection, or when the buyer checks out against it after you switch on Integrations → Use for checkout.

Buyer → Customer Mapping

TackQuote matches the buyer to a Cin7 Core customer by contact email, and creates one when there is no match — filed against your own chart of accounts, default sale tax rule and base currency, read from your Cin7 account rather than defaulted. Creating a customer needs a default sale tax rule set on your account; without one TackQuote refuses and says so, rather than filing the customer against a tax rule it picked.

Your Back Office, Not Just the Catalogue

Scheduled runs also pull suppliers, purchase orders, production orders (including rework tasks, linked to the order they came from), your chart of accounts, tax rules and stock locations. Read-only into TackQuote, brought across a few collections at a time so a large account never overruns its sync window, and resumed from where the last run stopped rather than restarted.

Ten Price Tiers, Read From Your Account

Cin7 Core products carry ten price tiers; TackQuote reads the catalogue straight from your account so quotes are priced from your own list rather than a copy. Stock levels are not part of this sync — quantities live on a separate Cin7 Core resource TackQuote does not yet read.

Setup Guide

4 steps to connect Cin7

TackQuote connects to Cin7 Core (formerly DEAR Inventory) through its External API v2. Products and prices refresh every two hours; sales orders are pushed only when an accepted quote matches an active Order Sync Rule.

1

Create Cin7 API credentials

In Cin7 Core, go to Integrations and create an API application. You need two values: the Account ID and the Application Key. Cin7 Core sends them as the api-auth-accountid and api-auth-applicationkey headers, which is what TackQuote uses.

2

Connect in TackQuote

Enter the Account ID and Application Key in TackQuote Integrations → Cin7 Core. TackQuote verifies access and begins the product sync.

3

Set the buyer defaults in Cin7 Core, not in TackQuote

There is nothing else to configure on the TackQuote side — the Account ID and Application Key are the only fields. A sale needs a default Location and a default Tax Rule, and Cin7 Core stores both on the CUSTOMER record, so TackQuote reads them from the buyer rather than asking you for a value that would be wrong for everyone else. If a buyer has neither set, the conversion tells you which one is missing instead of guessing a warehouse or a tax rule. For TackQuote to create a customer for a brand-new buyer, your account also needs a default sale tax rule under Settings → Reference Books → Taxation Rules.

4

Go live

Build quotes from live Cin7 products. Accepted quotes create sales orders and matched contacts once an active Order Sync Rule targets this connection — connecting alone does not enable it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Cin7

Does this cover Cin7 Core and Omni?

Cin7 Core only (formerly DEAR Inventory). Cin7 sells two products with different APIs and different credentials: Core authenticates on its External API v2 with an Account ID and an Application Key, which is what TackQuote sends. Cin7 Omni uses a username and a connection key against a different API, and TackQuote does not support it — an Omni account cannot be connected here.

What do I need to connect TackQuote to Cin7?

A Cin7 Core account, and an API application created under Integrations giving you an Account ID and an Application Key. TackQuote Starter plan or above is required.

Does TackQuote show my Cin7 stock levels?

No — quantities, no; locations, yes. This card used to say branch-level stock refreshed with the catalogue; that was wrong and is corrected. TackQuote pulls products, price tiers, units, categories and barcodes from Cin7 Core every two hours plus on demand, and now also your stock LOCATIONS along with the rest of the back office — but not the on-hand quantity at any of them. Cin7 Core does not return availability on the product resource TackQuote syncs, so there is nothing to bring across from it.
